"My daughter has been in the sports academy for 2 years now. The academy has done wonders for her skill development, both in hockey and in soccer. They were flexible in allowing her to register 1/2 time in both sports and the results are very noticable. What I really have noticed is her increased confidence level - she is a lot more assertive on the ice/field and makes very intelligent decisions during games. The best part, for us as parents, is that her marks have improved as well. She loves going to school and loves her teachers (who also coach her) so she does very well in school, as the program really emphasizes academics. I would definately reccommend this program to anybody, but especially for young girls who love sports and want to improve."

"Our daughter started her first year in the Sports Academy Program in grade 7. She had always gotten fairly good grades prior to the Academy but was not enjoying her school experience very much. Right away at the beginning of the year we could see a difference in her. A positive, confident attitude toward school, teachers and hockey, a sense of responsibility in knowing she was responsible for her schoolwork and knows that there are consequences for not turning assignments in. She has a great respect for her Sports Academy hockey coaches and enjoys being on the ice with her classmates. Her hockey skills have shown great improvement and she is looking forward to being involved and learning more within the Sports Academy program next year. As a parent, my expectations of this program were met and exceeded. I would not hesitate to enroll her again."

"Our son changed schools this year (grade 4) to attend the Sports Acadamy.Ê Our son is a very sports minded child who thrives in keeping active.Ê Although he had a very good school previously, he missed having friends who thought the same as he did.Ê He wanted to be able to play soccer at recess and be able to share his weekend sports activities with them, but these children were not that interested in sports and did not share his enthusiasm.Ê He did not enjoy school as much as he should.Ê We moved him to Albert Lacombe this year and have noticed that our son now enjoys school much more (he loves Albert Lacombe)Êand has friends who think the same as he does.Ê Our sonÊenjoys his classroom and his classroom teacher,Êand is doing well inÊschool.Ê Our concern that perhaps this might be too much hockey does not seem to be an issue---he could switch into soccer or drop out of the program, but he does not want to.Ê He loves his time on the ice and enjoys and respects his coaches! He has learned some valuable life skills as well this year, namely responsibility, independenceÊand accountability.Ê He is expected to get his homework done in order to be able to participate on the "on-ice" activities; he is expected to get himself ready for hockey on his own; he is expected to remember to have things ready for the next day.ÊÊThe Sports Acadamy's goal is that sports is a "dress-rehersal for life" and so far, this is what we have experienced.Ê This program fits our son's personality:Ê it is a great combination of academics and sports!"Ê Ê

"This is our son's first year and it's been a very positive experience for him. His grades are better than ever and he seems to truly enjoy both the academic side as well as the sports side! The break in the afternoons away from the classroom seems to give him the extra energy and motivation to get that homework done! Great program, excellent teachers; everything has been excellent!"

"...our son has gone from a strong dislike for school to actually enjoying it. Sports is what he enjoys; combined with learning this can only be a healthy choice. The instructors are supportive and push our son to be his best!"
